Government Supplies 142,000 Liters of Urea Solution to 71 Gas Stations... About 30 More Stations to Receive Supply Tomorrow (Comprehensive)
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] The government supplied 142,000 liters of urea solution to 71 gas stations out of the 1.8 million liters planned for 100 key gas stations nationwide by the 14th.
The government plans to increase production speed and supply the remaining urea solution to about 30 additional gas stations, and if more than 1.8 million liters are secured, it will expand the supply to more gas stations.
On the same day, the government held an inter-ministerial joint response meeting on urea solution supply and demand at the Seoul Government Complex, chaired by Lee Eok-won, First Vice Minister of Strategy and Finance, to review the distribution status and results of hoarding crackdowns.
During on-site inspections, the government confirmed that private importers held 700 tons of automotive urea and began producing 2 million liters of urea solution.
The 2 million liters of urea solution is enough for about 10 days of operation for domestic commercial trucks (143,000 units) and route, village, and special buses (22,000 units).
Of the 2 million liters, 1.8 million liters will be sequentially supplied to 100 key gas stations as they are produced. By the 13th, 82,000 liters had been delivered to 37 stations, and on the day, 60,000 liters were supplied to 34 gas stations.
The government plans to supply urea solution to about 30 additional gas stations on the 15th, maintaining the principle of prioritizing supply to 100 gas stations.
If future production exceeds 1.8 million liters, the government will gradually expand the number of supply gas stations.
Of the 2 million liters, 200,000 liters allocated for public purposes were supplied to 19 depots in metropolitan local governments by the 12th.
Among the cities and provinces receiving this urea solution, 12, including Jeju, Seoul, Busan, Gwangju, Gangwon, and Sejong, have completed distribution according to their purposes.
In particular, Jeju prioritized distributing 2,000 liters to six city bus companies and three village bus companies on the morning of the day, enabling the transportation industry to stockpile enough for about half a month of use.
The government emphasized encouraging manufacturers to proceed with production as quickly as possible and to increase the volume. It also pledged to continuously monitor the inventory status of the 100 key gas stations and immediately replenish shortages.
Of the 27,000 liters of urea solution imported from Australia, the amount prioritized for private ambulances will be increased from the initially requested 4,500 liters to 4,790 liters according to local government requests and is scheduled for delivery next week.
Among approximately 3,800 private ambulances nationwide, about 2,300 use urea solution, and this distribution volume is enough for private ambulances to operate for about four months.
The 200,000 liters of military reserve urea solution distributed from the 11th at about 30 gas stations near five ports was fully supplied to 7,000 containers and was exhausted by the 13th.
Since inspections began on the 8th, the government’s joint crackdown team confirmed two cases of hoarding urea solution, one violation of the Air Quality Preservation Act, and one violation of the Emergency Supply and Demand Adjustment Order, and referred them to the police for prosecution.
