Man Filming Neighbor Showering "Through Villa Window" Fined 7 Million Won in Second Trial
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daehyun] A man who illegally filmed a neighboring woman through the bathroom window of a villa while she was showering was fined 7 million won again in the second trial.
According to the legal community on the 14th, the Seoul Central District Court Criminal Appeal Division 2 (Chief Judge Park Nosu) sentenced office worker A (30, male), who was indicted for violating the Sexual Violence Punishment Act, in the appeal trial as in the first trial. He was also ordered to complete a 40-hour sexual violence treatment program.
The appellate court stated, "There is no new sentencing material submitted by the prosecution claiming 'the original sentence is too light,' and the defendant admits and reflects on the crime," adding, "Considering the family’s promise to guide the first-time offender and their plea for leniency, as well as the fact that the victim does not want punishment after reaching a settlement, it is difficult to see that the original sentence exceeded the reasonable range of discretion."
