58 People Infected in Group at Jungang Veterans Hospital, Gangdong-gu, Seoul
34 Patients, 22 Caregivers Confirmed
All 3 Wards with Confirmed Cases Located in the Same Building
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] A COVID-19 cluster infection has occurred at the Central Veterans Hospital located in Gangdong-gu, Seoul.
According to the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs and the Korea Veterans Welfare and Medical Service as of the morning of the 13th, a total of 58 people have tested positive in three wards within the Central Veterans Hospital.
The confirmed cases include 34 inpatients, 22 caregivers, and 2 hospital staff. It is estimated that the first confirmed case occurred on the 11th, and a large number of additional cases were identified during subsequent testing.
The three wards where confirmed cases were found are all located in the same building. The service explained that no confirmed cases have been reported in the ward with the intensive care unit.
The hospital is conducting comprehensive testing centered on the wards where cases were confirmed, so there is a possibility of additional confirmed cases. The Veterans Hospital mainly serves elderly veterans.
