China Responds to US-China 'Intense Competition' Remarks: "We Must Walk the Path of Coexistence"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] Jake Sullivan, the U.S. National Security Advisor at the White House, described U.S.-China relations as an "intense competition," prompting the Chinese government to emphasize "benevolent competition."
Wang Wenbin, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated at a regular briefing on the 12th, "There is a certain degree of competition in international relations," and emphasized, "Although there are differences of opinion between China and the United States, there are also broad common interests." He added, "Defining the bilateral relationship as competition does not reflect reality and contradicts the U.S. policy toward China."
He further stressed, "The United States should view the bilateral relationship as one of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation," and urged, "Adopting rational and pragmatic policies, strengthening dialogue and communication, and deepening cooperation are necessary to peacefully coexist and walk the path of mutual prosperity."
