Imsil-gun 'Crispy Kimjang Festival' Achieves Record Sales
[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Nosik] The Jeonbuk Imsil Kimchi Festival, ‘Asak Asak Kimchi Festival,’ has achieved its highest sales this year.
According to the county on the 12th, the ‘Asak Asak Kimchi Festival,’ held for the sixth time this year, recorded pre-order sales of about 470 million won, a 135% increase compared to last year’s 350 million won.
The county accepted pre-orders for the Kimchi Festival from the 8th of last month until the 4th of this month, and will deliver kimchi sets by courier and drive-thru methods on the desired dates until the 4th of next month.
This year, considering the surge in orders last year, the county prepared a larger quantity, and it was found that about 20 tons more were sold compared to last year.
Organized by Imsil & Yangnyeom Co., Ltd., the Asak Asak Kimchi Festival was held again this year as a non-face-to-face festival to comply with social distancing.
Although there were concerns about pre-sales due to the increased quantity and the online format, the high repurchase rate driven by taste and strong trust resulted in better-than-expected outcomes.
In particular, over the past five years, the festival has sold ‘fresh and safe kimchi ingredients’ at promised prices regardless of price increases, which led to enthusiastic participation from consumers nationwide, creating a significant word-of-mouth effect.
With the excellence of the county’s representative agricultural product, chili peppers, and the active participation of cabbage farmers, consumers had great trust in the safe and good seasoning, fully packed cabbage, and various seasoning ingredients made from local agricultural products.
The kimchi sets prepared by the county consist of various agricultural products such as cabbage and chili peppers grown locally, with strict management of ingredients to ensure the origin and quality of the materials.
The county also analyzed that the significant rise in vegetable prices this year made it difficult for consumers to make kimchi at home, which contributed to the high sales.
The actual event price was set at 172,000 won (including delivery) for a set of salted cabbage (20kg) and seasoning (10kg), sold at a fixed price regardless of price increases.
County Governor Sim Min said, “This year, the festival gained great popularity, and it seems many households missed the chance to purchase, so we will expand the quantity next year. We will develop it into the nation’s best kimchi festival, supported by the reputation of clean Imsil premium chili powder and cabbage.”
