T'way Air Obtains Certification as the First LCC Aviation Training Organization
Outsourcing of Cabin Crew Training to Other Airlines Possible
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] T'way Air announced on the 10th that its Cabin Crew Training Program at its Aviation Training Center received approval as an Approved Training Organization (ATO) from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport earlier this month.
This approval is the first of its kind among domestic low-cost carriers (LCCs). The training facilities at T'way Air's Aviation Training Center, along with the training curriculum, training managers, and instructors, were all approved after thorough document and on-site inspections.
Having been recognized by the government for the excellence of its cabin crew training, T'way Air is now able to provide safety training services to cabin crew members of other airlines. T'way Air stated, "We plan to offer facilities and training to domestic and international airlines that require training in the future and collaborate with them."
T'way Air's Aviation Training Center is characterized by purpose-built training spaces equipped with the latest facilities such as emergency evacuation slides, fire suppression rooms, and first aid practice rooms. The cabin crew training instructors at T'way Air also hold professional qualifications in first aid, aviation security, hazardous materials, and CRM (Crew Resource Management).
In preparation for the recent introduction of the mid-to-large aircraft A330-300, training facilities including slides and door trainers specific to this aircraft type have also been established.
The Aviation Training Center has been continuously conducting Crew Classes, a cabin crew safety and service experience program, for various external participants. Since last year, Crew Classes have been held for students majoring in aviation service-related fields, and this year, participation opportunities have been expanded by accepting applications from the general public.
Additionally, in September, aviation safety education was conducted by inviting firefighters from the Gangbuk Fire Station in Seoul, and on Children's Day last May, an experiential event was held for elementary school students in the Gangseo District of Seoul and children of employees to inspire future aviation professionals.
