Steps Toward Anti-Corruption ... Korea National Oil Corporation Appoints New Integrity Citizen Auditors

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Korea National Oil Corporation announced on the morning of the 9th at its Ulsan headquarters that it has newly appointed two Integrity Citizen Auditors.
Integrity Citizen Auditors are external experts who directly participate in identifying and improving corruption-prone areas within the organization.
They can request amendments to internal regulations, demand internal audits when necessary, and even participate in internal audits.
The Oil Corporation introduced the Integrity Citizen Auditor system in 2011 and currently operates with three appointed experts in various fields.
The newly appointed Integrity Citizen Auditors include Choi Hyung-ju, a standing commissioner of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, and Hwang Jae-young, a former director of the Environment and Greenery Bureau of Ulsan City, both with public service backgrounds.
At the third Integrity Citizen Auditor meeting of this year held immediately after the appointment, the corporation shared its corruption prevention achievements, such as preemptive measures against conflicts of interest among executives and employees and the spread of an integrity culture, with the Integrity Citizen Auditors.
The Integrity Citizen Auditors suggested actively conducting education and promotion for employees to continuously improve corruption-prone areas and ensure the smooth establishment of the Conflict of Interest Prevention Act, scheduled to be enforced in May next year.
