Renamed Disaster Relief Fund... Ruling Party Pushes for 'National Quarantine Support Fund'
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] The Democratic Party of Korea has changed the name of the 'Nationwide Disaster Relief Fund' it is promoting to the 'Nationwide With-Corona Quarantine Support Fund' and set a plan to distribute it in January next year.
On the 9th, Yoon Ho-jung, the floor leader of the Democratic Party, stated at the morning floor countermeasure meeting, "We will promote the distribution of the 'Nationwide With-Corona Quarantine Support Fund' to support the restoration of daily life and personal quarantine for the people."
Yoon said, "The quarantine support fund will be reflected in next year's budget, and once the fiscal year begins in January next year, it will be distributed to the people as soon as possible to support the purchase of quarantine supplies by individuals who are striving for personal quarantine and the restoration of daily life."
He added, "Since excess tax revenue is expected this year, the required funds can be secured by deferring the payment of the excess tax revenue to increase next year's revenue," and emphasized, "We will continue consultations among the ruling and opposition parties and the government to ensure smooth discussions on the specific scale, timing, funding, and procedures of the support fund."
Shin Hyun-young, the floor spokesperson, told reporters after the meeting, "In this budget, we will review the budget so that it can be paid in January next year, including substantial and broad financial support for self-employed and small business owners, as well as various costs needed for the nationwide with-corona quarantine."
