Hosted by the Gwangju Metropolitan City Gwangju Education Research Information Center and conducted by the IT Convergence College of Chosun University, this program was designed to help students explore future career paths in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution and to support their growth into outstanding talents who will lead the future.
The program held on the 30th was themed 'Soft AI, Giggle SW' and was led by Professor Cho Young-joo, the responsible professor of the SW-Centered University Project Group, along with the faculty members of the project group (Lee Kwang-ok, Lim Hee-kyung, Yoo So-wol), researcher Seo Hee-cheol, SOVASE Education Research Institute (CEO Oh Young-hak), and a team of 10 teaching assistants.
Additionally, the program was operated in five sessions utilizing AI Machine Learning and coding robots for SW education such as the Alpha 1 Robot, Jimu Robot, Zumi Robot, and Robomaster.
This year, the sessions included Smart City - What is Autonomous Driving?, Welcome to AI Machine Learning, Robomaster Coding Play, Alpha 1 Robot, and Jimu Robot Group Dance Show, which were very popular among the middle school students participating in the experience festival.
Professor Cho Young-joo said, "It is very meaningful that 17 high school gifted students currently enrolled in the 2021 Gwangju AI Information Gifted Education Center's SW·AI course are volunteering to teach their middle school juniors what they have learned in the one-year SW·AI course, creating a socially virtuous cycle system." He added, "With attention focused on the 2022 academic curriculum, I hope this festival was an educational program containing more substantial content rather than formal education, satisfying both students and parents."
Kang Young, Director of the Gwangju Education Research Information Center, said, "Through this experience festival, we hope students can more broadly experience AI·SW education, improve their computational thinking and problem-solving skills, and it will serve as an opportunity to positively change perceptions of AI·SW education."
