Geochang-gun Promotes Visiting Elderly Violence Prevention Education
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 2nd that it will conduct ‘Visiting Elderly Violence Prevention Education’ to improve awareness of violence among the elderly and create a safe community free from violence.
The education started on the 2nd at Jukjeon Senior Citizens' Center in Geochang-eup, where a professional instructor will tour all towns and townships to provide easy-to-understand education on the prevention of the four major types of violence: domestic violence, sexual violence, sexual harassment, and prostitution, as well as how distorted sexual culture leads to violence.
Choi Yoon-sun, director of Geochang Sexual and Family Counseling Center, said, “This education for the elderly will not only have a violence prevention effect but also provide an opportunity to understand the psychological aspects of aging, including changes due to aging and sexuality in old age, tailored to the participants' level.”
