Prof. Yoon Kyung-chul of Chonnam National University Receives Korean Allergan Academic Research Award

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Chonnam National University announced on the 2nd that Professor Yoon Kyung-chul (Department of Ophthalmology, College of Medicine; Director of Planning and Coordination Office, Chonnam National University Hospital) received the "Korea Allergan - Ophthalmology Scholar Award" at the 126th Korean Ophthalmological Society Academic Conference and the 2nd Asia-Pacific Ophthalmic Imaging Society Conference.
The awarded paper is titled "Tear Osmolarity and MMP-9 Enzyme in Dry Eye Patients Related to Sjogren's Syndrome."
The Korean Ophthalmological Society, sponsored by Korea Allergan, selects and awards the best academic papers annually in each field. This conference was successfully held with about 2,500 ophthalmologists and researchers nationwide attending both online and offline.
Professor Yoon Kyung-chul has served as the Academic Chair of the Asian Cornea Society and the Korean Ophthalmological Society. Currently, he holds positions as the Training Chair of the Korean Ophthalmological Society, Academic Chair of the Korean Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Editorial Chair of the Korean Contact Lens Society, Publication Chair of the Korean External Eye Disease Society, and Korean representative director of the Tear Film & Ocular Surface Society (TFOS).
In 2020, he was elected as an academic committee member of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), the world's largest ophthalmology society, becoming the first Korean to achieve this, actively engaging in academic activities.
To date, Professor Yoon has published 360 domestic and international academic papers and 14 academic books, and has delivered over 700 lectures at domestic and international academic conferences. He has received numerous academic awards including the Topcon Academic Award and Seobong Medical Award hosted by Medical Newspaper, seven Korean Ophthalmological Society Academic Awards, two Allergan Academic Research Awards, two Asia-Pacific Ophthalmology Society Best Paper and Merit Awards, and two Asia Dry Eye Society Best Paper Awards.
