Jeongeup-si to Hold 'Traditional Culture and Arts Camp' Starting from the 4th
[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province (Mayor Yoo Jin-seop) announced on the 1st that it will hold a "Traditional Culture and Arts Camp" for North Korean defector youth and local grandparent-headed family youth at the Old House Culture Experience Center from the 4th to the 26th.
Hosted by Jeongeup City and organized by the Hanok Village People Association, this event is a traditional culture and arts experience camp under the theme "A Starry Night 愛, Our Artsy Selves".
This event was prepared to promote emotional stability, restore self-esteem, and support smooth adaptation for North Korean defector youth and local grandparent-headed family youth based on traditional culture and arts.
In particular, through alternative education combining play and learning, the event aims to facilitate access to traditional culture and arts and plans to enhance pride in our cultural heritage through cultural heritage exploration.
The event will be held three times in total over a 1-night, 2-day schedule from the 4th to the 26th, engaging a total of 115 North Korean defector youth and grandparent-headed family youth in experiential activities using content such as traditional dance, sound, and art.
The program for each schedule includes forming groups on the first day to experience traditional percussion instruments, watch performances, participate in a lantern experience with wishes, and have a meditation session accompanied by traditional music.
On the second day, participants will experience community dance to foster positive energy, solidarity, and a sense of belonging, and visit cultural tourist sites such as Museongseowon Confucian Academy and the Kim Dong-su House.
A city official said, "Through this camp, we expect to increase youth's intimacy with traditional culture and arts and provide an opportunity to raise public interest and understanding of traditional culture and arts, which are becoming marginalized, through field learning combined with play."
