PCC, 8 Prosecutors Added... 2 Chief Prosecutor Positions Vacant "Appointment Ceremony Tomorrow"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daehyun] President Moon Jae-in has approved the appointment of eight prosecutors for the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Unit (HOCI).
According to HOCI on the 27th, the appointment ceremony for these prosecutors will be held on the 28th. HOCI prosecutors are responsible for investigating and prosecuting crimes committed by high-ranking officials and maintaining public prosecution. Their term is three years, with the possibility of three renewals.
The eight prosecutors being appointed this time are Kwon Dohyung (Bar Exam 1st), Kim Sungjin (Judicial Research and Training Institute Class 43), Kim Seunghyun (Class 42), Song Youngsun (Bar Exam 1st), Yoon Junsik (Bar Exam 2nd), Lee Daehwan (Class 34), Cha Junghyun (Class 36), and Choi Moonjung (Bar Exam 3rd). By background, there is one former prosecutor, three former police officers, one from the Special Inspection Office, and three lawyers.
HOCI has secured 23 out of 25 prosecutor positions (including the chief, deputy chief, two senior prosecutors, and 19 regular prosecutors). The two senior prosecutor positions remain vacant.
The recruitment process, conducted through an open call, began with a recruitment announcement in June, attracting 66 applicants. Among them, 26 candidates took the interview exam. On the 1st, HOCI held a personnel committee meeting and recommended nine candidates to the Blue House to fill one senior prosecutor and eight regular prosecutor positions. However, as the senior prosecutor candidate voluntarily withdrew, only eight regular prosecutors will newly join HOCI.
