Ilsan Bridge Free Toll from Noon on 27th... Gyeonggi-do Cancels Project Operator Designation
Province, Policy of 'Permanent Free Access'
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gyeonggi Province announced on the 27th that "among the 28 bridges over the Han River, Ilsan Bridge, the only one that charges a toll, will be free to cross starting from 12:00 noon."
According to the province, from noon on the same day, a public interest disposition will be implemented to cancel the designation of the business operator for Ilsan Bridge Co., Ltd., and the toll system for vehicles crossing Ilsan Bridge will be adjusted from the existing 1,200 won to zero won.
Once the designation of the business operator is canceled, there is no legal basis to collect tolls, allowing immediate free passage. The province delivered this notification to Ilsan Bridge Co., Ltd. on the previous day (26th).
This free passage is due to the public interest disposition, and in preparation for the National Pension Service's application for suspension of execution, the province plans to make the bridge permanently free regardless of the provisional injunction lawsuit results by 'prepaying a portion of the total acquisition amount' until the main judgment is made.
