SK to Hire 27,000 Over 3 Years... Prime Minister Kim Calls It a Great Hope for Youth Struggling with Employment Crisis
Government-SK Sign Partnership for Youth Hope ON Project
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Son Seonhee] SK Group plans to create a total of 27,000 new jobs over the next three years.
The government and SK Group signed a partnership for the "Youth Hope ON Project" on the 25th at SK Hynix located in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province. On the government side, Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum and Director of the Office for Government Policy Coordination Koo Yun-cheol attended, while SK Group was represented by Chairman Chey Tae-won, Chairman of the SUPEX Council Jang Dong-hyun, and President of SK Hynix Lee Seok-hee, among others.
SK had originally planned to hire about 6,000 people annually, but with this partnership, they decided to increase recruitment by 3,000 people each year. Additionally, through the "Youth Hy-Five Internship" program, they will nurture 400 talents annually, totaling 1,200 over three years. The plan is to focus on creating youth jobs in advanced industries such as batteries, semiconductors, and bio, which are SK Group's core business sectors.
This partnership is the fourth following KT, Samsung, and LG. The Office for Government Policy Coordination announced that with KT promising 12,000 jobs, Samsung 30,000, LG 39,000, and now SK committing to 27,000 jobs, a total of 108,000 jobs in large corporations will be created.

Prime Minister Kim said, "SK is leading ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management in Korea, and the hiring and internship plans announced today reflect SK's bold determination and ambition." He added, "This will be a great hope for young people struggling with employment difficulties."
