The Best Village Making project, a key policy of Jeonnam Province, supports various village improvement projects to revitalize village communities that have been stagnated due to COVID-19, based on voluntary participation and cooperation of residents.
Through resident participation, Nam-pyeong-eup created a flower pot rest area in Nampyeong Village, Nam-pyeong 1-ri, and a flower garden street at the entrance of Geumdang Village, Suwon 3-ri this year.
Nampyeong Village planted 10 emerald green garden trees in wooden flower pot frames directly made by the autonomous crime prevention squad members.
The wooden flower pots installed in the open space in front of the old Nampyeong bridge and the crime prevention squad post offer greenery throughout the four seasons to residents passing by.
Geumdang Village carried out flower garden cultivation and mural painting on the walls.
After weeding and cleaning the surroundings, residents planted 1,300 azaleas and 2,000 flowers, and created a pleasant and fresh village atmosphere through mural work.
Shin Byung-chul, head of Nam-pyeong-eup, said, “I thank the residents of Nampyeong and Geumdang villages for their efforts to complete the first year of the Best Village Making project,” and added, “We will continue to create a clean and livable Nam-pyeong through public-private cooperation along with next year’s projects.”
