'A Defining Moment That Shows the Era?'... Kim Taehoon Pop Columnist Special Lecture

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) is recruiting students for the ‘Gangseo Happy Humanities Academy’ starting from the 25th to satisfy residents' thirst for humanities.

The ‘Gangseo Happy Humanities Academy’ is a representative course of Gangseo-gu that cultivates humanities insights to help residents live a happier and wiser life.

Since 2015, the district has held regular courses twice a year, securing a fixed group of students, and in the first half of this year, the online course themed on ‘Movies’ received great responses from residents.

The upcoming second half course will continue with the theme of movies, covering directing, devices, translation, criticism, and other aspects of film.

The lecture topics include ▲A Decisive Scene Showing the Era (Pop Columnist Kim Tae-hoon) ▲Food Stories in Movies (Food Stylist Jung Young-sun) ▲Things to Steal from Movies (Film Translator Lee Mi-do) ▲A Map Toward Good Movies (Film Critic Lee Dong-jin), among others.

The education will be conducted live online via Naver Band every Friday at 10:30 AM for four weeks starting November 26.

Any Gangseo-gu resident can participate, and a total of 300 people will be recruited on a first-come, first-served basis.

Applications can be made from 10:00 AM on October 25 through the Gangseo Lifelong Learning Center website, and the tuition fee is 10,000 KRW.

A district official said, “Encouraged by the response in the first half, we have prepared a more in-depth themed humanities course on movies. We hope many residents will show interest and participate as it is an opportunity to broaden life wisdom and enjoy movies more interestingly.”
