Namwon-si Launches 'Musculoskeletal Disease Prevention Campaign'
[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jeong Young-gwon] The Jeonbuk Namwon Agricultural Technology Center (Director Ko In-bae) announced on the 20th that it will conduct a 'Musculoskeletal Disorder Prevention Campaign' targeting 340 farmers until the 27th during the autumn harvest season.
Musculoskeletal disorders are the most common diseases related to agricultural work and are representative diseases that farmers frequently experience. These disorders cause symptoms such as pain or sensory abnormalities due to muscle damage in areas like the waist, shoulders, wrists, and knees caused by repetitive movements and improper working postures.
This campaign mainly focuses on education about correct working postures and stretching to prevent musculoskeletal disorders that are likely to occur during autumn harvesting work.
Considering the COVID-19 situation, life technology staff and heads of farmers' counseling offices in each eup, myeon, and direct jurisdiction are visiting village halls and farming sites directly to conduct the education.
Farmers attending the education sessions are provided with safety aids such as lumbar supports and wrist guards to prevent disorders, and stretching ropes to help make stretching a daily habit.
An official from the Agricultural Technology Center said, "Although musculoskeletal disorders are the most common diseases among farmers, safety awareness is low. We hope this campaign will improve farmers' safety awareness."
