Wando-gun, Discovering New Policies to Improve Residents' Quality of Life

A Total of 238 Submissions Received, Final 15 Selected Including Metaverse Development

[Wando＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Jeonnam Wando-gun (Governor Shin Woo-cheol) announced on the 20th that it held a report meeting for new policies for next year on the 19th at the county office situation room, attended by Vice Governor Bong Jin-moon, directors, planning and budget officers, and policy proposers.

According to a county official, from August for one month, 238 new policy proposals were received from all public officials, and after the first screening, 58 were selected. Then, based on novelty, feasibility, and effectiveness, 15 final policies were chosen after a second review.

The main policies include developing seaweed-based cattle feed additives, building a county office metaverse combining virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies, creating a safer Wando through road facility improvements, establishing an integrated civil service office for national tax, local tax, and registry services, childcare services for dual-income families, and creating a safe Binggrae trail.

The newly proposed policies will be reviewed by each department, reflected in next year’s main budget, and implemented with detailed plans.

Vice Governor Bong Jin-moon emphasized, “Even a small interest in county administration can bring great development to Wando-gun,” and added, “Public officials must focus their capabilities on actively discovering policies to improve the quality of life for residents.”

Meanwhile, the county is making all-out efforts to become a center for the healing industry by focusing on marine healing industry, marine bio industry, and the establishment of the National Subtropical Arboretum. It is also putting full effort into expanding SOC such as constructing a marine tourism hub city, the Wando?Goheung coastal tourism road, and the Gwangju?Wando expressway to open the era of 5 million tourists.
