Along with CEO Kim, 49 individuals who contributed to the development of the machinery industry this year were honored.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (Minister Moon Seung-wook) and the Korea Machinery Industry Promotion Association (Chairman Son Dong-yeon) announced on the 20th that they held an awards ceremony for contributions to the development of the machinery, robotics, and aerospace industries at the '2021 Korea Industry Fair' held at KINTEX in Ilsan. The awards for contributions to the machinery, robotics, and aerospace industries have been conducted since 1984 to boost the morale of executives and employees in the machinery industry who have dedicated themselves to securing world-class technology in key capital goods sectors with high import dependence.
This year’s Gold Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit recipient, CEO Kim Dong-seop, was recognized for his achievements in technology development, including the development of a super-large 2200-ton former, which resulted in an import substitution effect exceeding 30 million USD annually. He also led export growth to advanced machinery countries such as Germany, Japan, and the United States. Furthermore, he contributed to securing the global competitiveness of the machinery industry by supporting root companies and material and component companies in responding to the 4th Industrial Revolution and establishing smart factories through IT integration and convergence of production processes.
The Silver Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit was awarded to Kim Jong-su, CEO of Deokji Industry, who has devoted himself to the localization and development of various industrial pumps supplied to domestic and international markets. The Industrial Service Merit was awarded to three individuals: Hwang Moon-gi, CEO of Newbotec, who contributed to water quality and environmental improvement through equipment localization; Oh Chun-gil, CEO of Hyundai Precision, who proactively responded to industrial environmental changes by establishing smart factories; and Yoo Jang-young, Executive Director of Daedong, who contributed to the development of the agricultural machinery industry through 28 years of agricultural machinery development and export.
The Presidential Citation was awarded to five individuals including Cho Young-ho, CEO of Daekyung Enterprise, and two companies in the corporate sector including Otek. The Prime Minister’s Citation was awarded to seven individuals including Kim Jin-il, CEO of Coron, and two companies in the corporate sector including DAT New Materials. The Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Citation was awarded to 18 individuals including Lim Dae-soon, CEO of Micro Actuator, and 10 companies.

The Korea Industry Fair, where this awards ceremony took place, is being held as a metaverse industrial exhibition combining online and offline events until the 22nd. In line with digital innovation strategies, it showcases cutting-edge ICT-based convergence products such as smart factories, robotics, and artificial intelligence. To support market expansion for small and medium-sized enterprises and mid-sized companies, a special one-on-one purchasing consultation meeting is being held with purchasing officers from six power companies and their partner companies. In cooperation with KOTRA, overseas buyers from seven countries including China, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, and Japan are invited online for video export consultations. Additionally, a digital innovation conference titled 'Industrial Intelligence, Metaverse, and the Future of XR in the With-Corona Era' is being held, where digital transformation strategies of global IT companies from home and abroad are expected to be showcased.
