According to the Ministry of Education on the 14th, the total number of student cases nationwide from the 7th to the 13th was 1,485, averaging 212.1 cases per day. This is a decrease of 15 cases compared to the previous week (227.6 cases).
After the Chuseok holiday, the daily average number of confirmed cases rose to 244.8 but has since been on a declining trend. The cumulative number of student cases from March to the present is 23,624.
From the 5th to the 13th, cluster infections occurred at 17 middle and high schools, including a high school in Chungbuk, resulting in a total of 66 confirmed student cases. Among the students tested, 205 were placed under self-quarantine.
The number of confirmed cases among school staff over the week was 53, averaging 7.6 per day. The cumulative number of confirmed staff cases is 1,903.
As of 10 a.m. on the day, 84 schools were conducting remote classes, distributed by region as follows: ▲Seoul 81 schools ▲Chungbuk 16 schools ▲Gyeonggi 12 schools ▲Incheon 6 schools.
The number of confirmed student cases by region is ▲Seoul 497 ▲Gyeonggi 465 ▲Incheon 116 ▲Chungbuk 105 ▲Daegu 49 ▲Daejeon 40 ▲Gyeongbuk 33 ▲Gyeongnam 33 ▲Busan 31 ▲Chungnam 28.
Out of 20,447 nationwide kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools, 99.1% (20,254 schools) held in-person classes. Remote classes were conducted at 0.6% (129 schools), and discretionary holidays were observed at 0.3% (64 schools).
As of 4 p.m. the previous day, 4,958,562 students (83.5%) out of 5.94 million nationwide attended school.
