Jeongeup-si Dance Sports Team Wins 'Gold Medal' at National Sports Festival
[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] The Jeongeup City Dance Sports Team participated in the 102nd National Sports Festival and claimed the top spot in the high school division.
According to the city on the 13th, Kim Dae-hyun (17, Baeyoung High School) and Yoon Hee-jin (18, Seoyoung Girls' High School), representing Jeonbuk Province in the dance sports category of the National Sports Festival, won the gold medal in the five Latin dance events.
The competition, held at Seonsan Gymnasium in Gumi City, Gyeongbuk Province, featured a total of 15 teams and 30 players in the high school division, all competing fiercely for regional honor.
Kim Dae-hyun and Yoon Hee-jin showcased beautiful rhythms and excellent coordination in the five Latin dances: Samba, Cha-Cha-Cha, Rumba, Jive, and Paso Doble, securing first place ahead of Jeju Province in second and Gyeonggi Province in third.
The two players, who first formed their team in 2017, have been honing their skills through intense daily training after school, sweating it out to improve.
Thanks to their efforts, they have consistently achieved excellent results by participating annually in various domestic dance sports championships.
Moreover, they actively participate voluntarily in various local events, delivering outstanding performances and demonstrating exceptional skills, earning praise from local residents.
Coach Park Si-yoon said, “With this National Sports Festival victory as a stepping stone, we will continue to do our best not only to develop dance sports but also to discover hidden talents and nurture young prospects. We will prepare diligently with the coaching staff and players in their respective roles to meet the expectations of the residents in next year’s competition.”
