Ssangyong Information & Communications Expands Cloud Business... "Strengthening Core Technology Acquisition"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Ssangyong Information & Communications, a public SI and cloud specialist company under the ITCEN Group, announced on the 13th that it has completed the configuration of the ‘Cloud Architecture Standard Set’ applying the ‘Standard Development Framework’ and Cloud Native technologies.
The standard development framework incorporates the know-how Ssangyong Information & Communications secured from large-scale e-government projects previously executed, such as K-Edufine and the next-generation resident registration system. By applying the standard development framework and cloud architecture set, it is possible to maximize operational efficiency by reducing repetitive similar tasks and trial-and-error performed for each project. Additionally, architecture standardization guarantees uniform quality while enabling continuous upgrades in response to architectural changes.
Recently, the IT industry has been a mix of the latest technologies such as cloud and big data alongside traditional SI technologies. This has exposed issues in development quality and productivity due to the gap between personnel skilled in new technologies and existing SI staff. In response, Ssangyong Information & Communications is strengthening its competitiveness in business proposals and execution through technology internalization and advancement by accumulating its own know-how. Furthermore, since the first half of 2021, it has been preparing to support development environment standardization to reduce quality variance depending on individual developer capabilities and to minimize human errors through the use of automation tools, thereby enhancing productivity and project execution quality.
Ssangyong Information & Communications’ framework is optimized from the perspective of appropriate technology by adding proprietary functions based on the e-government standard framework, focusing on performance and security requirements demanded by large public institutions. Concurrently, efforts are being made to train technical personnel for practical SI projects and to secure open-source technology experts.
The ‘Cloud Architecture Standard Set’ of Ssangyong Information & Communications consolidates years of cloud execution experience and know-how. It provides the construction and operation of a standard architecture based on the latest Cloud Native technologies, guides on cloud solutions, and automated standard construction templates, presenting a standard cloud architecture service operation model for each project phase.
At the proposal stage, it supports architecture design and resource estimation; at the initiation stage, it offers architecture and development environment configuration based on the standard set, as well as optimization plans through gap analysis according to project characteristics and requirements.
During the project execution stage, it supports architecture issue monitoring and specialized SWAT activities, tracks architecture changes, and performs continuous upgrades reflecting accumulated know-how after project completion.
Ssangyong Information & Communications is currently applying the cloud architecture standard set to Hyundai Motor Group’s cloud-based projects. It has established a strategic partnership in the ‘MSA-based ICT platform development and Namyang Research Center development’ sector of Hyundai Motor Company and plans to expand business opportunities going forward.
Ssangyong Information & Communications has completed the formation of an architecture optimization group and a cloud optimization group, including a SWAT organization for continuous support of the standard framework and cloud architecture standard set, and is continuously expanding its strategic collaboration structure with related solution companies after the first phase completion.
A representative of Ssangyong Information & Communications stated, “We are currently executing projects applying our standard development framework in next-generation projects worth over 20 billion KRW, such as the intelligent pension welfare system, asset management corporation bond and debt system, and next-generation local personnel system,” adding, “We are proving improvements in project execution productivity and stability, and plan to expand application from the end of this year.”
