'World Smart City Organization' 10th Anniversary Seoul General Assembly... Held on the 18th at DDP
Over 150 Participants Including Representatives from 50 Cities Such as the Chair City Seoul, International Organizations, and ICT Companies Join via Video Conference
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The 5th General Assembly of the World Smart Cities Organization (WeGO), the first and largest international consortium in the smart city sector founded under the leadership of Seoul City, will be held both online and offline at Dongdaemun Design Plaza on the 18th, the organization announced on the 13th.
Under the theme "New Normal with Smart Sustainable Solutions for All," the assembly will be attended virtually by representatives from over 50 cities including the chair city Seoul, Moscow, Wellington, Chengdu, Bangkok, Ulaanbaatar, as well as international organizations and ICT companies, totaling more than 150 participants. The Seoul assembly was originally scheduled for last year to mark the 10th anniversary of WeGO’s founding but was canceled and postponed by one year due to the spread of COVID-19, and will now be held this year in Seoul, the chair city. This is the first general assembly in four years since the 4th assembly.
Commemorating the 10th anniversary of WeGO’s founding, the Seoul assembly will open with an inaugural address by Mayor Oh Se-hoon, the chair of WeGO. Following this, there will be a 10th anniversary ceremony (opening ceremony), the WeGO Sustainable City Awards ceremony, a plenary session to discuss organizational operations, and programs for city and IT company promotions.

In his opening remarks, Mayor Oh plans to introduce how Seoul is creating a smart city by integrating Seoul’s excellent smart city infrastructure with cutting-edge private sector smart technologies to digitally incorporate various administrative fields, and express his intention to share and cooperate on outstanding smart city know-how from cities around the world through WeGO.
