GH to Build 106 Units of 'Gyeonggi Happy Housing' in Yongin Yeongdeok
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] A modular housing complex consisting of 106 units will be constructed in Yeongdeok, Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.
The Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH) announced on the 12th that it has completed the project plan approval for the modular housing project 'Yongin Yeongdeok Gyeonggi Happy Housing.'
The modular construction method involves manufacturing housing materials in a factory in advance and assembling them on-site to reduce construction waste, and is currently applied only to low-rise buildings of six stories or less.
This 'Yongin Yeongdeok Gyeonggi Happy Housing' project plans to apply the modular construction method to a 13-story building, the highest height ever attempted domestically.
The mid- to high-rise modular housing demonstration project is being promoted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport as a national research and development (R&D) task.
GH, selected as the project operator, will secure modular construction technology and build 106 units of Happy Housing.
They will begin full-scale project implementation with the Hyundai Engineering consortium.
GH plans to implement modular housing for high-rise buildings in the future.
Lee Heon-wook, president of GH, emphasized, "By applying the modular construction method to Gyeonggi Happy Housing, we will contribute to national technological development and ensure that follow-up tasks such as structural review proceed smoothly with the goal of completion by the end of 2022."
