Kishida Japanese Prime Minister "I Will Accept Low Approval Ratings"
[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida stated that he "accepts" the historically low approval ratings of his cabinet shortly after its launch.
According to Mainichi Shimbun on the 6th, Prime Minister Kishida told reporters at the Prime Minister's Official Residence, "I am aware of the numbers from the public opinion polls."
The approval ratings for the Kishida cabinet, based on polls conducted from the 4th to 5th, were 59% from Nihon Keizai Shimbun, 56% from Yomiuri Shimbun, 49% from Mainichi Shimbun, and 45% from Asahi Shimbun. The 45% rating is lower than the previous lowest record of 48% held by the Taro Aso cabinet in 2008.
Prime Minister Kishida said, "There is a significant difference depending on the newspaper," but added, "I accept the low approval ratings and will do my best in the upcoming election."
