Accountant Kim Ilseop Selected for Induction into the 2021 Accounting Hall of Fame
[Asia Economy Reporter Ji-hwan Park] The Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants announced on the 6th that the Hall of Fame Committee for Accountants, jointly hosted by the Korean Accounting Standards Board and the Korean Accounting Association, has selected CPA Ilseop Kim as this year's inductee into the Hall of Fame for Accountants.
The Hall of Fame for Accountants was established in 2016 to honor and preserve the achievements of accountants who have made significant contributions to the development of accounting in Korea. Previous inductees include Professor Iksoon Cho of Korea University (2016), Honorary Chairman Taesik Seo of Samil Accounting Corporation (2017), and former Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants Chairman Chansu Shin and former Yonsei University President Ja Song (2018).
Ilseop Kim, selected as this year's inductee, was a founding member of Samil Accounting Corporation and made great contributions to the development of the firm. He also significantly contributed to accounting systems, management improvement, and regulatory reform in the public sector through roles such as the Government Investment Institution Management Evaluation Team, Presidential Advisory Administrative Innovation Committee, Financial Reform Committee, and Regulatory Reform Committee.
He served as the first president of the Korean Accounting Standards Board, vice president of Ewha Womans University, and president of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, contributing to the advancement of academia. Recognized for his contributions to enhancing the honor and social status of accountants across public, academic, and industry sectors, CPA Kim was selected as this year's inductee into the Hall of Fame for Accountants.
