At around 9:50 a.m. that day, nine PCC prosecutors and investigators entered Jeong's office to carry out the search and seizure.
Jeong, who served as the head of the People Power Party's Legal Support Group, is known to have delivered a draft complaint against Choi Kang-wook, a member of the Open Democratic Party, to the Party Audit Office last year. The Party Audit Office then passed it on to the lawyer in charge of the accusation, who submitted it to the prosecution.
Previously, the PCC also conducted a search and seizure at the office of Kim Woong, a member of the National Assembly.

Heo Eun-ah, the chief spokesperson for the People Power Party, criticized, "This time, the PCC brazenly forced a search and seizure of the opposition party's lawmaker's office during the National Assembly audit period," adding, "Conducting a search and seizure on opposition lawmakers during the audit is a clear suppression of the opposition, an act of obstructing the audit, and furthermore, a destructive act against the legislative branch that undermines the separation of powers."
