The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of midnight on that day, the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases increased by 2,028 from the previous day to 323,379. The infection routes of new confirmed cases were 2,002 local transmissions and 26 imported cases.
Among the locally transmitted cases, 1,495 cases, accounting for 74.7%, occurred in the Seoul metropolitan area. There were 685 cases in Seoul, 680 in Gyeonggi, and 130 in Incheon.
Non-metropolitan cases were counted at 507. By region, the confirmed cases were ▲Busan 38 ▲Daegu 64 ▲Gwangju 16 ▲Daejeon 31 ▲Ulsan 4 ▲Sejong 5 ▲Gangwon 31 ▲Chungbuk 38 ▲Chungnam 68 ▲Jeonbuk 20 ▲Jeonnam 12 ▲Gyeongbuk 55 ▲Gyeongnam 120 ▲Jeju 5.
There were 26 imported cases. Among them, 11 were detected during quarantine, and 15 were confirmed in the community. Seven were Korean nationals, and 19 were foreigners.

Meanwhile, as of midnight on that day, 44,879 people received new COVID-19 vaccinations. Accordingly, the cumulative number of first-dose vaccinations reached 39,785,657. The vaccination rate against the total population is 77.5%, and the vaccination rate for those aged 18 and over is 90.1%. The number of fully vaccinated individuals increased by 765,885 from the previous day to 27,994,143. The vaccination rate for the second dose is 54.5% of the total population and 63.4% of those aged 18 and over.
