Sandangong Launches 'Human Rights Protection Squad' with Local Citizens
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Korea Industrial Complex Corporation (Chairman Kim Jeong-hwan) announced on the 6th that it has launched the 'Our Corporation Human Rights Protection Team (Usu-dae)' to practice human rights management and operate citizen-friendly public facilities, and inspected elements of human rights violations.
The Industrial Complex Corporation formed the Usu-dae jointly with local citizens and its facility management subsidiary Kikox Partners to inspect from various perspectives the installation and operation of convenience facilities for the disabled and maternity protection facilities for female workers within the building.
As a result of the inspection, there were no inconveniences or improper uses in using convenience facilities for the disabled such as designated parking spaces, access facilities, elevators, and sanitary facilities, as well as nursing rooms for maternity protection. However, four additional suggestions, including adding hand sanitizers currently placed at the building entrance and lobby to the disabled restrooms for COVID-19 prevention, were agreed to be improved by reflecting the inspection team's opinions.
The Industrial Complex Corporation has established a foundation for human rights management by enacting human rights management guidelines since 2018 and mandating human rights education for executives and employees. To enhance human rights sensitivity of the corporation and industrial complex business owners, it operates a human rights library and continuously strives for human rights improvement by conducting annual human rights impact assessments and holding human rights management committees.
