[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] China conducted a large-scale military show of force on the 1st, its National Day, deploying 25 military aircraft.
According to Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense, the Chinese military deployed 18 J-16 fighter jets, 4 Su-30 fighter jets, 2 H-6 bombers, and 1 anti-submarine aircraft to fly near the Pratas Islands (Dongsha Islands) in the South China Sea, which Taiwan effectively controls.
Taiwan also scrambled military aircraft in response and activated its air defense missile network to track and monitor Chinese military movements. Last year, China also sent one Y-8 anti-submarine patrol aircraft into Taiwan's Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) on both its National Day and Taiwan's National Day (October 10).
China has recently been continuously sending military aircraft into Taiwan's ADIZ. On the 23rd of last month, when Taiwan submitted its comprehensive and progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) membership application, China deployed 24 military aircraft.
