Jin Joong-kwon "Is That Democracy? Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim So-young] Former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon criticized Professor Seo Min of Dankook University, who said, "If there is a regime change, let's make sure the left cannot hold power for at least a hundred years," by commenting, "Why is this person acting like this these days?"
On the 30th, former Professor Jin shared an article containing Professor Seo's remarks on his Facebook and criticized, saying, "Is that democracy? Absolute power always corrupts absolutely."
Earlier that day, Professor Seo posted an article titled "The Unreleased Notebook of Lee Jae-su is Fake" on his blog, strongly criticizing the Moon Jae-in administration while referring to the late former Defense Security Command Commander Lee Jae-su, who took his own life amid a prosecution investigation over allegations of spying on Sewol ferry victims' families.
Professor Seo said, "The younger brother of the late Commander Lee Jae-su called me. He said leftist scoundrels were using his brother again for a despicable plot and asked me to widely publicize this fact." He added, "After the call, my heart was briefly touched because he was someone who did not support candidate Yoon Seok-youl."
He continued, "Yoon Seok-youl, who rose to become a presidential candidate by fulfilling the role the public expected of a prosecutor, also has shortcomings, one of which was the excessive investigation of Commander Lee Jae-su." He claimed, "In January 2021, the special investigation team announced that the Defense Security Command did not follow or wiretap the victims' families nor conduct hacking, so the prosecution's excessive investigation, ordered by the regime, drove a true soldier to death."
He added, "The Moon administration, which drove many people to death, is the main culprit in this case, but candidate Yoon Seok-youl, who was then the head of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, cannot avoid criticism for over-investigation, so it is natural that the victims' families view him unfavorably."
He then quoted part of the notebook known as the "Unreleased Notebook of Lee Jae-su," saying, "Considering the character of this commander, who was respected as a true soldier, it is unimaginable that he would leave such a lowly note. His younger brother also testified that his brother never left such a notebook."
Professor Seo stated, "The history of the Korean left has been a saga of lies and agitation, a kind of fraud. I do not expect them to engage in honest policy debates in the upcoming presidential election." He added, "Therefore, I urge you: if there is a regime change this time, let's make sure the left cannot hold power for at least a hundred years. That is the only way for our country to survive."
