Seongnam City Council Decides to Return Budget for Overseas Training of Council Members
[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Seongnam City Council in Gyeonggi Province has decided to return the budget related to overseas training for council members this year. This marks the second consecutive year of returning the funds following last year.
The Seongnam City Council's Steering Committee announced on the 30th, during the supplementary budget review, that it would cut the entire 209 million KRW budget allocated for council members' overseas training and return it.
The returned budget includes ▲ council members' overseas travel expenses of 105 million KRW ▲ overseas travel expenses for visiting sister cities of 31.5 million KRW ▲ overseas travel expenses for accompanying public officials of 40 million KRW ▲ overseas travel expenses for accompanying public officials visiting sister cities of 32.5 million KRW.

Yoon Chang-geun, chairman of the Seongnam City Council, stated, "We decided to return the overseas training budget to share the pain of citizens caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic," adding, "We hope that the returned budget will be used for projects to help vulnerable groups overcome crises and provide some assistance."
