Wanju-gun, Leading Priority Purchase of Products Made by Severely Disabled Persons 'Eutteum'

[Wanju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Han-ho] Wanju County has been evaluated as the best among county-level regions nationwide in the priority purchase performance of products made by persons with severe disabilities.

On the 30th, Wanju County announced that it was the only county-level region nationwide to be selected as an excellent institution in the 2021 Priority Purchase of Products Made by Persons with Severe Disabilities Public Institution Contest, receiving the Minister of Health and Welfare Award.

Institutions with excellent purchase performance are selected based on their contribution to expanding priority purchases, either by the highest priority purchase ratio or purchase amount.

Wanju County showed high purchase performance for three consecutive years, achieving 1.11% in 2019, 2.34% in 2020, and 4.59% as of May this year.

So far, the county has continuously promoted and urged purchases in related departments, and has worked to realize social value, strengthen competitiveness, and improve awareness by linking with Wanju County Social Goods.

Above all, a customized integrated system for sales facilities of products made by persons with severe disabilities in the county was established, where four institutions regularly held meetings, discussed new product development, and consistently conducted promotional visits to workplaces. As a result, a new product (disinfection and quarantine) was designated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

Park Seong-il, the governor of Wanju County, said, “Providing stable jobs that allow persons with severe disabilities, a vulnerable employment group, to be independent is most important,” and added, “We will continue to actively purchase products made by persons with severe disabilities and do our best to help persons with disabilities live happily through their professional lives.”
