Construction of 1,871-unit Apartment Complex Near Sinpung Station on Subway Line 7
[Asia Economy Reporter Onyu Lim] A complex housing development with 1,871 households will be built around Sinpung Station on Seoul Subway Line 7.
On the 29th, Seoul City held an Urban and Architectural Joint Committee meeting and announced on the 30th that it had approved a revision to the district unit plan designation and district unit plan decision for the area 413-8, Singil-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, which includes this plan.
The area where the complex housing will be built is the Sinpung Station area, a transfer station between Subway Line 7 and the Sinansan Line, which will open in 2024. A regional housing association project with about 1,600 households has been underway in this area.
With this decision, the "Operation Standards Related to Station Area Housing and Public Rental Housing Construction" will be applied, enabling the construction of a complex housing development with 1,871 households. The city upgraded the zoning from Type 2 General Residential Area to Type 3 General Residential Area to facilitate the construction of the complex housing. The project also includes approximately 281 units of public rental housing.
A Seoul city official stated, "The establishment of this district unit plan is expected to contribute to improving the residential environment around Sinpung Station and stabilizing housing for low-income residents through the supply of quality rental housing."
At the same meeting, the district unit plan designation and plan for the Mirim District Center in Gwanak-gu were also approved with revisions. The target area includes the neighborhood around Seoul National University, including the goshiwon (exam preparation housing) area, where the Sillim Line light rail station will open next year. This plan integrates two adjacent district unit plan areas, reduces the special planning zone that has seen delayed development, and includes the creation of spaces for youth startups and cultural hubs.
