Opening of "Noknok Timewalk Myeongdong," Korea's First Shared Garden in Myeongdong
Landscape and garden platform startup Enlogis announced the opening of the shared garden ‘Noknok Timework Myeongdong’ in the Timework Myeongdong Building (formerly SK Myeongdong Building) owned by Aegis Asset Management in Myeongdong, Jung-gu, Seoul.
The shared garden is a new sharing economy model where gardens are created in urban idle spaces such as rooftops and vacant office spaces, and various experience programs are operated so that anyone can use the garden in the desired form at the desired time.
Shared gardens, which have the advantage of enjoying quality garden life even without a private yard, are services that can improve the quality of life for urban residents and a new revenue model that can increase the value of buildings by utilizing previously unused spaces.
Since COVID-19, the popularity of eco-friendly buildings such as balconies and terraces has increased, becoming an important criterion for building value. In the United States, the LEED certification, an eco-friendly building certification standard, comprehensively evaluates environmental services such as landscaping, natural lighting, and indoor air quality provided by the building, and recently, domestic buildings that have received this LEED certification are increasingly recognized for their high value.
The approximately 1000㎡ Noknok Timework Myeongdong garden was designed by Youngjun Choi, director of the landscape design office LabDH, who is active in the US, China, and Korea and won the 3rd Young Landscape Architect Award. The garden implements a naturalistic style with perennial plants that offer various beautiful sceneries.
