SME Welfare Platform Surpasses 180,000 Registered Workers in Just 2 Years Since Launch
[Asia Economy Reporter Junhyung Lee] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced on the 29th that the SME Welfare Platform has surpassed 180,000 registered workers and 14,000 registered companies just two years after its launch.
The SME Welfare Platform is a service that provides welfare benefits at the level of large company workers to SME employees without any subscription or usage fees. It was launched in September 2019. The number of orders and order amounts increased by 165.3% and 165.8%, respectively, compared to the first year of implementation. This indicates that the use of the SME Welfare Platform is becoming more active.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups expects that the welfare points service, implemented since the end of June, will accelerate SME registrations. Through this service, companies can provide welfare points to their employees. Employees can use the welfare points they receive like cash on the welfare platform. Within three months of its launch, the welfare points service allocated approximately 140 million KRW worth of welfare points to about 1,400 workers.
At the time of launch, there were only 21 partner companies for the welfare points service. However, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry have increased the number of partners to 38 as of this month to provide a variety of welfare services. Additionally, companies that provide welfare points of more than 350,000 KRW per person annually to at least 30% of their employees are granted the 'Excellent Utilization Company of the Welfare Platform' certification and other benefits.
