Solar Exploration Satellite Unveiled at China Airshow
[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] Major foreign media reported that China plans to unveil cutting-edge weapons, including a solar exploration satellite, at the China Airshow opening on the 28th.
The solar exploration satellite to be unveiled on this day is equipped with the world's first H-alpha frequency band image spectrometer.
This allows for the measurement of changes in physical quantities such as atmospheric temperature and velocity during solar eruptions. It is expected to provide important data for studying the dynamic processes and physical mechanisms of solar eruptions.
Huanqiu Shibao forecasted that the solar exploration satellite will enhance China's international influence in the field of solar physics.
At the airshow held in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, until the 3rd of next month, a super-large carrier rocket aiming for its first launch in 2028 will also be unveiled.
Known as the "Changzheng-9" (Long March-9), this rocket is planned to be used for manned exploration missions to the Moon or Mars.
The rocket features multiple engines arranged in parallel and can be reused through vertical takeoff and landing.
The rocket has a diameter of 9.5 meters and a length of 90 meters, with four boosters each 5 meters in diameter attached. Its takeoff weight is 2,000 tons. The payload capacity reaches 140 tons to low Earth orbit and 50 tons to lunar transfer orbit.
Meanwhile, the China Airshow, held biennially since its first event in 1996, was postponed last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
