Hwasun-gun Conducts 'Free Influenza Vaccination'
[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] Jeollanam-do Hwasun-gun (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 27th that it will provide free influenza (flu) vaccinations to prepare for the simultaneous spread of COVID-19 and winter respiratory infectious diseases.
The free national vaccination targets are children aged 6 months to 13 years, pregnant women, and seniors aged 65 and over.
The status of medical institutions participating in the national influenza vaccination support project by target group can be checked through the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency’s vaccination helper site “Find Designated Medical Institutions.”
Children aged 6 months to under 9 years who are receiving their first vaccination (2-dose recipients) and pregnant women have been able to get vaccinated at 8 local entrusted medical institutions since the 14th of this month, and those aged up to 13 years who require a single dose can be vaccinated from the 14th of next month.
Seniors aged 75 and over can get vaccinated from the 12th of next month, those aged 70 to 74 from the 18th, and those aged 65 to 69 from the 21st at 30 local entrusted medical institutions, and vaccinations are also available at 12 township health centers.
During the peak vaccination period (October to November), vaccination for seniors aged 65 and over will operate a pre-reservation system through online booking, medical institution visits, and call centers.
Making a reservation and filling out the electronic preliminary questionnaire before visiting will reduce waiting times at medical institutions.
The county has taken these measures to minimize vaccination congestion that may occur while simultaneously administering COVID-19 and flu vaccinations and to block the spread of COVID-19 within medical institutions.
It is mandatory to bring an ID card for vaccination.
Pregnant women must bring proof documents such as a maternity handbook or documents verifying pregnancy to receive the vaccination.
A health center official said, “Please strictly adhere to the age-specific vaccination schedule to prevent early congestion and ensure safe vaccination,” and added, “Please participate in preventing the spread of COVID-19 by inquiring in advance and wearing masks when visiting medical institutions.”
