HiteJinro Successfully Completes Eco-Friendly Lifestyle Campaign 'Cheongjeong Recycle'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] HiteJinro has successfully concluded the ‘Cheongjeong Recycle’ campaign, conducted to promote a proper resource circulation culture in the era of 필(必)environment.
HiteJinro announced on the 17th that as a result of running the ‘Cheongjeong Recycle Campaign’ since last April, it significantly reduced carbon dioxide emissions, achieving meaningful contributions to the environment. The Cheongjeong Recycle Campaign was designed to provide consumers with proper resource circulation experiences, such as encouraging separate waste collection and expanding recycling. The campaign was conducted in collaboration with the global recycling consulting company TerraCycle and in partnership with BGF Retail (CU convenience stores) and Yogiyo.
A total of about 11,000 people applied for this Cheongjeong Recycle Campaign, and 4,000 participants were selected as ‘Terra Crew.’ Among them, 88% practiced separate waste collection and recycling in their daily lives, showing a high collection rate. Over four rounds, 4,149 kg of plastic and 876 kg of aluminum cans were collected, and by transforming them into recycled goods, the campaign contributed to a total reduction of 18.11 tons of CO2 emissions. This amount is equivalent to the carbon absorbed in one year by a pine forest planted over 7,470 pyeong (about 2.7 soccer fields in size).
