SKT Opens '1:1 Recruitment Consultation Room' in Metaverse Virtual Space
Strengthening Digital Communication with New Job Applicants
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] SK Telecom announced on the 15th that it will strengthen communication channels for job seekers by introducing one-on-one metaverse recruitment consultations in the new employee hiring process.
SK Telecom is accepting applications for the ‘Junior Talent’ recruitment, targeting university graduates and applicants with less than three years of work experience, until the 27th.
Among the applicants, about 600 who pre-registered will be given exclusive consultation opportunities using the metaverse platform ‘Ifland.’ SK Telecom new employee applicants can customize their avatars to express their personalities in Ifland and freely ask questions to recruitment officers and department managers during one-on-one metaverse recruitment consultations.
The metaverse recruitment consultations have the advantage of allowing participants to join online from any location without spatial constraints, so they do not have to be conscious of others compared to offline events with many attendees.
In particular, this time, the format has advanced one step further from the presentation-style metaverse recruitment briefing held in April this year by adopting an individual consultation method so that each applicant can resolve their questions and receive advice. Applicants can also join Ifland with up to two friends during their consultation time to receive counseling together.
This ‘Junior Talent’ recruitment process, held as the third rolling recruitment following April and June this year, plans to hire new employees for various roles such as service planning, marketing, infrastructure, and development. Final successful candidates will be assigned to respective departments in the first half of next year.
Unlike the regular new employee recruitment held twice a year in the first and second halves, Junior Talent is a system that allows flexible rolling recruitment so that each department within the company can timely select the talent they need by job category.
The recruitment process, which generally proceeded in the order of document submission, written test, and interview, has been subdivided according to each job. Starting this year, presentations or coding tests related to the applicant’s job are newly introduced to more precisely assess each applicant’s strengths such as ambition and passion.
Applicants who advance to the interview stage are provided in advance with an interview kit that includes a tablet capable of video conferencing to ensure a fair and smooth interview environment. Metaverse recruitment briefings are also conducted concurrently.
Job seekers can write their applications after understanding job introductions and main duties on the SK Telecom recruitment website. On the recruitment website, features such as ‘Member Interviews’ and ‘Job Casts,’ where job managers directly explain overall work, and ‘Frequently Asked Questions,’ which collects answers to common questions from job seekers, help resolve inquiries that are difficult to confirm through recruitment announcements alone.
