Government Proposes New Dialogue Channel for New Technology and Supply Chain Cooperation at Korea-US Trade Talks
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] The government proposed establishing a dialogue channel to cooperate with the United States on new technologies and building a stable supply chain.
Yeo Hangoo, Director-General for Trade Negotiations at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, made this proposal during the Korea-US trade ministers' meeting with Katherine Tai, U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), held on the 13th in Washington D.C. The U.S. side stated that they would review our proposal.
This meeting was held following the elevation of bilateral relations to a comprehensive economic partnership including supply chains and technology, triggered by the Korea-US summit in May.

The trade ministers of both countries agreed to continue cooperating to achieve substantial follow-up outcomes in economic and trade areas, such as responding to changes in the global trade environment, supply chain and technology trade, expanding global vaccine supply, addressing climate change, reforming the World Trade Organization (WTO), and negotiating fisheries subsidies.
