Gyeonggi-do's Lifelong Learning Portal 'Jisik (GSEEK)' Surpasses 1.4 Million Members
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The number of members of Gyeonggi-do's lifelong learning portal 'GSEEK' has surpassed 1.4 million.
Gyeonggi-do announced on the 13th that 'GSEEK,' which has been providing over 1,500 online educational contents in eight fields including foreign languages, IT, self-development, hobbies, and humanities for free since October 2016, has doubled its membership from about 710,000 in December 2019, before the spread of COVID-19, to about 1.4 million in September this year.
In particular, the province explained that the demand for 'educational welfare' increased sharply due to sudden unemployment and job-seeking difficulties after COVID-19, leading to a surge in people seeking Gyeonggi-do 'GSEEK' lectures.
Accordingly, the province is expanding the use of the lifelong learning portal. In June, it launched a 'video learning service' that combines the video conferencing platform 'Zoom' with a school management system developed independently by Gyeonggi-do.
Additionally, to reduce educational disparities between regions, the province and city/county online education and real-time lifelong education services are being operated in an integrated manner.
