Gwangju Seo-gu Council Member Kim Su-young "Civil Servants' Rights Must Be Protected"
[Asia Economy] The Seo-gu Council of Gwangju Metropolitan City announced that at the 2nd plenary session of the 298th extraordinary meeting held on the 10th, the ordinance titled "Ordinance on the Protection and Support of Public Officials Performing Civil Service Duties in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City," proposed by Councilor Kim Su-young, was finally approved.
The main contents of the ordinance include definitions of key terms such as special civil complaints, establishment of a response plan for special civil complaints, measures to protect victimized public officials, and support plans.
Councilor Kim stated, "Recently, so-called 'special civil complaints,' including verbal abuse and violence by complainants during the complaint handling process, have been increasing every year. However, there is a lack of practical protection systems for public officials who suffer damage related to this, and systematic response measures are also insufficient. To improve this, I proposed this ordinance." He added, "By guaranteeing the rights and interests of civil service officials, I hope to minimize unnecessary administrative resource waste and improve civil service in Seo-gu."
