On the 10th, Lee Eokwon, the 1st Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, visited the Gangwon Province Livestock Product Processing Center with Park Youngbeom, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, stating, "We will make every effort to secure sufficient slaughter volume during the Chuseok peak season to ensure there are no disruptions in supply and demand."
Recently, the supply of beef and pork has increased by about 10% compared to the average year, but prices remain relatively high due to increased household consumption. Demand is expected to rise further ahead of Chuseok. Vice Minister Lee said, "To enable early supply of scheduled slaughter volumes after Chuseok, the 150,000 KRW slaughter fee per head borne by farmers for Hanwoo cows being shipped will be temporarily waived until the 18th."
On the same day, Vice Minister Lee visited the Anbandegi cabbage field located in Wangsang-myeon, Gangneung City, to also inspect the highland cabbage crop during the Chuseok peak season. He said, "As the cultivation area has increased, cabbage prices are stably maintained at a level 14.6% lower than the average year," adding, "Prices have risen compared to the previous month due to the autumn rainy season, so we will closely monitor price and supply-demand conditions."
