[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The number of appeals regarding the National Support Fund submitted to the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC) has surpassed 50,000 within four days.
On the 10th, ACRC Chairperson Jeon Hyun-hee appeared on MBC Radio and stated, "Since opening the appeal window on the ACRC’s National Petition Board on the 6th, approximately 54,000 appeals had been received by 6 p.m. yesterday," adding, "This is a large number, equivalent to about 13,000 appeals per day."
Chairperson Jeon explained, "The eligibility was determined based on last year's income, but many requests have been made to reconsider the criteria, citing reasons such as 'recent business closure leading to a significant income decrease this year.'"
Appeals can be submitted not only to the ACRC but also at local community centers, and whether to accept the appeals is decided by each local government.

Meanwhile, regarding some calls to raise the gift amount for agricultural, livestock, and fishery products during this year’s Chuseok holiday from 100,000 won to 200,000 won, Chairperson Jeon maintained the position against changes, stating, "There are parts that the public does not agree with, and repeatedly changing the criteria could undermine the purpose of the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act."
