KT Season to Write a New 'Teen Noir' Genre with Playlist

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] KT Season announced on the 10th that it is partnering with comprehensive content studio Playlist to invest in and produce the seezn original drama ‘Sonyeon Bihaeng’ (Boyhood Flight).
On the same day, seezn announced the casting for Sonyeon Bihaeng and revealed the script reading session held on the 9th at Playlist’s headquarters in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Seasons 1 and 2 are being produced simultaneously and will be exclusively released on seezn in the first half of next year.
The protagonist ‘Dajeong’ is played by Won Ji-an, who appeared in the popular drama ‘D.P.’, and actor Yoon Chan-young was cast as ‘Yuntak’. The director is Jo Yong-ik, who won the Audience Award at the 16th Mise-en-sc?ne Short Film Festival for the short film starring Lee Soo-kyung and Um Tae-goo, ‘Sisikolkholhan Iyagi’ (Trivial Story). The script is written by writer Jung Soo-yoon, who authored ‘Once Again Ending’ and the ‘In Seoul’ series.
Sonyeon Bihaeng deals with subjects rarely seen in Korean dramas such as drugs, marijuana, and crime from the perspective of teenagers. It plans to offer genre excitement with its unique themes while addressing universal emotions like love and growth to resonate with audiences of all ages. The story follows 18-year-old girl Dajeong (played by Won Ji-an) and her friends as they desperately search for the lost normalcy after discovering a marijuana field.

A seezn official said, “The drama Sonyeon Bihaeng will present a unique theme as a new genre called ‘teen noir,’ available only on the online video streaming service (OTT) platform,” adding, “Starting with this partnership, seezn will introduce a wide range of original content that appeals to diverse viewers.”
