Gwangju University Architecture Major Hosts '2021 Architecture Exhibition'

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Gwangju University (President Kim Hyuk-jong) announced on the 8th that the ‘2021 Architecture Exhibition’ of the Department of Architecture, Architecture Major, will be held until the 10th at the lobby exhibition hall on the 1st floor of Hosimgwan Hall.
Marking its 33rd year this year, the Architecture Exhibition featured participation from 26 prospective graduates, with student Hong Jeong-in receiving the President’s Award, the highest honor, for the work titled ‘Color’.
Additionally, student Choi Yeon-bi’s ‘Creative Education Library CEC’ and Seon Yeong-ji’s work ‘Ecological Media Experience Center’ were awarded the Excellence Awards, receiving the Dean of Engineering Award and the Head of Architecture Major Award, respectively.
Along with them, five students including Kim Jeong-gyu (A Life not alone) received Excellence Awards such as the Gwangju Architecture Association President’s Award and the Gwangju Branch President Award of the Korea Institute of Architects.
The participating students will receive feedback on their achievements and areas for improvement through a critique session held on the 9th, inviting external experts.
Meanwhile, the Department of Architecture, Architecture Major at Gwangju University started as the Department of Architectural Engineering in 1987 and is currently operated as a five-year program focused on architectural design. Recently, it has established itself as a cradle for nurturing talent in the architecture field, having won the highest award in the architecture category at the ‘57th Jeollanam-do Art Exhibition,’ a national contest in 2021.
