View original image[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] NongHyup Central Association announced that Chairman Lee Seonghee visited the NongHyup Garak Wholesale Market in Garak-dong, Seoul on the 8th to check the supply and demand situation of seasonal products for the Chuseok holiday.
At the Garak Wholesale Market, Chairman Lee inspected the shipment volumes and auction prices of seasonal products such as apples and pears for the Chuseok holiday. Afterwards, he listened to the opinions of wholesale dealers, unloading teams, and auctioneers at the market and delivered songpyeon sets to distribution workers.
The 79 agricultural product wholesale markets nationwide operated by NongHyup are the largest distribution channels in Korea, where about 25% of domestically produced agricultural products are traded. Since June, online distribution has also been strengthened, including the launch of the online food material mall 'Singsing-eum' service at the Garak Wholesale Market.
Since last month, NongHyup has proactively managed supply and demand for key items to stabilize agricultural product prices. For three weeks before Chuseok, the 'Agricultural and Livestock Product Supply and Demand Countermeasures Situation Room' and the 'Food Safety Comprehensive Situation Room' will be operated. Through this, the supply and demand situation of seasonal products such as apples, pears, radishes, and napa cabbage will be monitored, along with enhanced hygiene management and quarantine measures.
