GreenPlus Signs MOU with Bogor University, Indonesia... "Developing Export-Oriented Smart Farm Model"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] GreenPlus, the only listed greenhouse and smart farm company in Korea, is set to enter the Southeast Asian market through the Smart Farm Multi-Ministry Package Innovation Technology Development Project.
GreenPlus announced on the 7th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Bogor Agricultural University (President, Prof. Dr. Arif Satria) to advance Korean-style smart farms in Indonesia. Bogor Agricultural University is an agricultural university in Indonesia. Through this agreement, GreenPlus will actively export smart farms to the Southeast Asian region.
The MOU was based on the research project "Development of a High Temperature and Humidity Smart Greenhouse Package Model for Export," which GreenPlus has been conducting since April. This research project, led by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Rural Development Administration, and the Ministry of Science and ICT, aims to overcome agricultural limitations in the Southeast Asian region, which is constrained by hot and humid climates, by developing and exporting Korean-style smart farms that increase the marketability and yield of crops.
GreenPlus will design smart farms suitable for the climate and soil conditions of the Southeast Asian region and develop export-oriented models. They plan to start exports by securing material durability through the selection of covering materials and shading screens considering the high ultraviolet radiation levels in Southeast Asia, conducting cooling load simulations based on demonstration greenhouses, and selecting, constructing, and demonstrating cooling systems that consider economic feasibility and convenience.
A GreenPlus official stated, "Through the Korea-Indonesia Integrated ODA Policy Dialogue, development cooperation between our government and Indonesia is being executed in a more integrated, systematic, and effective manner," adding, "We will actively enter the Southeast Asian market starting with exports to Indonesia in line with the New Southern Policy."
